About David Edelman, LCSW
I’m a licensed clinical social worker with more than 25 years of experience in the fields of mental health and substance use treatment.
My style is warm and compassionate but also direct and practical. Therapy is about making positive changes in important areas of your life, and I’m dedicated to helping guide and support you towards making these transformations.
I treat anxiety, depression, substance use and co-occurring disorders. I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness and motivational interviewing as methods to help clients. In addition, I draw from theories and techniques learned from my training at the prestigious Family Therapy Practice Center in Washington, D.C.
I have worked for 18 years in community mental health. I’m licensed to practice in Virginia and Washington, D.C.
I’m currently doing my sessions in person and online. I use HIPAA-secure video platforms for my online sessions. Evening and weekend sessions are available.
